about the blog

I am Beth Shook, a D.C.-based graduate student in Art History at George Mason University. I received my B.A. in Spanish from Georgetown University. This blog is part of the coursework for HIST-697: History and New Media.

As a student of modern Latin American art, I am interested not only in translating art historical scholarship to the Web, but also in taking advantage of the Web’s global nature to illustrate the transnational and transatlantic artistic conduits that have formed between Europe and the Americas over the last century. I am anxious about the inevitable learning curve this project will entail – I have only a smattering of HTML and CSS experience. But I am excited to find out what doors Digital Humanities might open for my research.
